The Mohawk-Shelburne line of tools was a part of
Goodell-Pratt Company acquisition in 1931. The Millers
Falls Company continued this line as a secondary line of tools for
consumer market. In the catalog No. 41, published in 1935
this drill is described as:
"There is a wealth of satisfactory service built
into these hand drills. Solid steel frames, single speed,
cut gears and equipped with three-jawed chucks that hold 0 to
1/4 inch round shanks. Large gear, red enameled.
Handles mahogany finished hardwood. End handle equipped
with nickel-plated ferrule. Length - 10 5/8 inches.
Weight - 1 lb."
This is a restored tool. The drill was fully disassembled
and all parts cleaned. All metal surfaces were cleaned and
polished. The wooden handles were cleaned and lightly
sanded. Just as it was done in the past, wood was stained
with red mahogany and lacquered. The chuck was
disassembled and cleaned. All inside surfaces were
polished.
