Goodell-Pratt Hand Drill No. 52
The drill shown here was most likely made after 1907. We
base this assumption on several elements described in Catalog
No. 15, published in 1923. However, the most resent catalog in
our disposal is dated 1905 - Catalog No. 7 and the next is from
1923 - Catalog No. 15. Consequently, we have a gap of 16 years
and no information about tools developed during that period. As
we continue our study of Goodell-Pratt Company we will make
corrections to the current information accordingly.

1905 - Catalog No. 7
Capacity 0 to 5/32 inch. Chuck patented
August 13, 1895.
This new Hand Drill, and the other styles and
sizes completing the series shown and described on the following
pages, make up out new line of Steel Frame Hand and Brest Drills.
In appearance we believe they are even more attractive than those
constructed with malleable iron frames; the general character of the
mechanism and class of workmanship are very similar.

Gears:
1905 - Catalog No. 7: All three gears, the large rack, and
the two small pinions, have cut teeth, and are nickel plated, to
prevent rusting; these pinions running on opposite sides of the
large gear equalize the bearing.
1923 - Catalog No. 15:
Teeth are all machine cut
and steel are nickel plated. Large Gear finished
in red enamel with polished edges.
