Goodell-Pratt Hand Drill No 5 1/2 B

Capacity 0 to 5/32 inch.  Chuck patented August 13, 1895.

This tool is intended to fill a long-felt want for a Combination Hand and Brest Drill, the shape of handle admitting of its use to latter way.  Its capacity is to 3/8 inch; and it has two speeds, facilitating the use of larger-size drills.  It has double Gears, Two Speeds, and a Chuck, with capacity to 3/8 inch, as noted below.

1923 - Catalog No. 15:  The accurately turned steel Spindle runs on Ball Bearings.  End runs in a hardened steel Cone Bearing.

1926 - Catalog No. 16:  The accurately turned steel Spindle runs on Ball Bearings.  End runs in a hardened steel Cone Bearing.

Chuck


1905 - Catalog No. 7:  Three-jawed, capacity 0 to 3/8 inch.  It has Knurled Nut, Nickel Plated, well made and accurate.

1923 - Catalog No. 15:  The all-steel Chuck has three hardened jaws for holding Round Shank Drills 0 to 3/8 inch.

1926 - Catalog No. 16:  The all-steel Chuck has three hardened jaws for holding Round Shank Drills 0 to 3/8 inch.  Bright nickel finish.

 

Speed


1905 - Catalog No. 7:  It has Two Speeds, changed by turning the nut on the frame marked "F" and "S".

1923 - Catalog No. 15:  The Drill has two speeds, changed by turning the Shifter Knob marked "Fast" and "Slow".  The recently improved clutch makes shifting mechanism stronger and easier to operate.

1926 - Catalog No. 16:  The Drill has two speeds, changed by turning the Shifter Knob marked "Fast" and "Slow".  The recently improved clutch makes shifting mechanism stronger and easier to operate.

 

Handle


1905 - Catalog No. 7:  Polished Hard Wood, Large Head.

1923 - Catalog No. 15:  The polished Hard-wood Handle has a large head upon which pressure can be exerted comfortably, when using large Drills.  A large knob Side Handle is also provided.

1926 - Catalog No. 16:  The Hardwood Handle with polished mahogany finish has a large head upon which pressure can be exerted comfortably, when using large Drills.  Large, comfortable Side and Crank Handles are provided.
